Amazon did something special for its customers in Spain and Italy. Amazon launched Kindle e-readers and Kindle Stores in both the countries further expanding the reach of the best selling e-reader.
With the launch Kindle Stores have added, with 16,000 books for sale in Italian and 22,000 Spanish-language Kindle books, including the largest selection of Catalan, Basque, and Galician books, the most best sellers in Spain with 20 of the Top 30 El Cultural non-fiction best sellers and over a thousand free classics in Spanish. Italy will get about 16,000 titles.
The Kindle is on sale for €99 in the Spanish and Italian stores, which are marginally cheaper than the £89 being charged in the U.K. Kindles, are available on amazon.es and amazon.it. Both Web sites are advertising the e-readers .on their homepages with a note from Amazon chief Jeff Bezos translated to both languages.
The Kindle has been extremely popular in the U.S., European countries, on the other hand, are generally behind on the e-reader market.
Amazon also announced that independent authors are free to use Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to make their works available in the Italian and Spanish Kindle Stores.
Recently BestBuy revealed that Kindle Fire tablet overtook iPad in Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
