The National Football League will allow its players to use Twitter during the game from this Sunday’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

However according to CNBC’s Darren Rovell, players “will not be able to tweet from personal devices” but will have to use a computer set up on each sideline which seems unfair to me.

The NFL disallowed players from tweeting during the games in July of 2009. The league also fined a player $25,000 for tweeting from a training camp. No wonder the game is popularly termed as the “No Fun League.”

The League doesn’t entertain the social media use during preseason, regular season and playoff games. Players are banned from using such social networking sites 90 minutes before kick-off and until they finish their postgame media obligations. The League has however altered its policy for the Pro Bowl to attract more fans.

“We are always looking for ways to bring fans closer to the game and the players,” McCarthy said in a statement. “The nature of the Pro Bowlenables us to have players tweet during the game.”

NFL though is not considering changing its social media policy on in-game tweets for the regular season.

The Pro Bowl will include three former Super BowlPlayers -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

The New York Giantsand New England Patriots, will not be part of the Pro Bowl as they prepare for the NFL championship game on Feb. 5.
