On Wednesday, Logitech announced a new portable iPod/iPhone speaker dock – the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S715i – that vaguely resembles the modern Batmobile.

Getting portable audio to sound good, much less powerful, is tricky; the drivers are usually smaller on a portable dock, and pulling from battery power can often mean lower performance for the speakers. Logitech's answer to this conundrum: more drivers and a stronger battery. Specifically, the S715i has two mid-range drivers, two tweeters, and four passive radiators to cover deep bass frequencies. You counted correctly: that's eight drivers.

The rechargeable battery enables you to carry the S715i with you for up to eight hours of playback, and its wireless remote supposedly works from up to 30 feet – no word yet on whether it has full iPod menu navigation or not. Obviously, the unit will be Apple-certified to work with your iPod and iPhone. PCMag got a chance to check out the S715i at a meeting with Logitech earlier in the summer, and we eagerly await the dock's arrival in our labs for testing.

The S715i, which comes with a travel case, power adaptor, and the aforementioned remote control, will hit stores this month with a price tag of $149.99.

Earlier Logitech had announced the launch of speaker system Z313, a 2.1 system which the company claims will improve the listening to music or watching movies on the computer commendably despite its compact size.

The speaker system Z313 delivers balanced sound as a result of the 25 watts (RMS) of power. Playing a dual role, the subwoofer delivers deeper base. In addition, the efficient design makes it easy to store in tight places.

The speakers feature a convenient control pad, which allows user to easily turn on the speakers, adjust the volume or plug in headset. The headphone jack also offers a convenient solution if the user intends to listen to music from iPod.
