Comcast announced it will automatically cover the cost of calls to Japanese cell phones and landlines between March 11 and April 10 for its Xfinity voice customers.
Sprint will do the same for calls and text messages for the same dates.

Verizon Wireless and landline customers will also get those free services for the same one-month period. The company also offered free calls to Japan using prepaid phone cards.

Subscribers to Verizon's FiOS TV can watch TV Japan for news from the country on channel 1770 until March 25 for no charge.
