As per BSNL’s plan to roll their 3G services, the company has thought of adopting a franchisee business model to reach out to wider circle across the country. As Kuldeep Goyal, chairman, BSNL said, “The company will invite expressions of interest by the end of this month,” going by its plan, the company is planning to follow the outsourcing method, which would actually help it to reduce investments that it needs to roll out the 3G services.

Once the model comes to effect with all plans executed well and in place, BSNL will be the second in line with MTNL to have franchisee model for 3G.
Goyal also said that “the franchisee could be an existing mobile service provider or a company that had not won or bid for 3G spectrum. The franchisee will manage customer acquisition, marketing and sales of BSNL's 3G services across the country,” he said.

Last month, two most popular mobile telecom operators having the largest subscriber base, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel paid a whopping amount of $5.1 billion for 3G mobile licences in India, ending an epic auction that yields a bonanza for a deficit-strapped government. With BSNL rolling out its 3G services, India is sure to be more “Connected”.
