Amazon officially introduced a next-generation Kindle which is smaller and lighter. A better screen and some Wi-Fi thrown into the gadget makes it one of the most coveted and technologically updated gadget among the e-readers.

Amazon officially introduced a next-generation Kindle which is smaller and lighter. A better screen and some Wi-Fi thrown into the gadget makes it one of the most coveted and technologically updated gadget among the e-readers.

The new e-reader has a couple of application combination where in you have one with both Wi-Fi and 3G wireless priced at $189, and a Wi-Fi-only version that costs $139. The new Kindles will be shipped from 27th of August and the good news is that Amazon has started taking pre-orders for both e-readers now.

To talk about the attractive features of Kindle, it has a 6-inch E-Ink display, Wi-Fi, 3G, going by the numbers, it is 21 percent smaller than the older Kindle models and weighs 8.7 ounces. The contrast of the screen is much better with a 20 percent faster page turns, which actually makes this an ideal gadget for e-readers. The letters on the screen appear clear and dark with a tweak in the font, which overall makes reading a pleasurable experience on this technologically update gadget. The compact design of this newly launched Kindle also has some other additions which include a 4GB memory instead of 2GB and also has an extended battery life.

Amazon says the updated web browser is "faster, easier to navigate, and provides a new 'article mode' feature that simplifies web pages to just the main text-based content for easier reading." The new text-to-speech enabled menus allow you to navigate the Kindle without having to read menu options. You can also enjoy listening to a certain books aloud along with content listings on the home screen, item descriptions, and all menu options. Amazon says, “ the new Kindle uses an improved built-in PDF reader, with new dictionary lookup, notes and highlights, and support for password protected PDFs.”

Kindle was listed as "out of stock" on Amazon. With this, speculations were that a new Kindle was on the way. It was also speculated that the product will be in the market by August.
