With some valuable and focussed research, it has been concluded that the IT companies does care about going Green with certain sustainability and environmental issues charting their list. Caring about environmental issues has been noted as prime and strategic differentiators for many companies across the world. Going by the figures reported by Accenture and the United Nations Global Compact, 93% of the CEOs view sustainability as one of the most important fundamental operations.

Companies that operate data centers are thinking of ways to save money on running the huge facilities. Companies operating data centers have strategically pointed out that shifting the centers to regions with colder climate include locating the centers in cold climates, near hydroelectric or thermal energy or in abandoned mines with access to cold water.

Google with about 1 million servers is one of the largest operators of data centers and has recently filed a patent for a novel idea which states that the internet service company wants to locate its data centers on floating barges at a few kilometers away from the shore. This idea has been appreciated much as it plans to use the hydro power of the waves to generate electricity and the water to cool servers. With such an idea put to work, Google will also revolutionize the power management sector as it did to the online world.
