HP Mini 2140 Notebook PC
Review

Making the choice harder for those out there HP has introduced the Mini 2140 Notebook PC- which makes many question whether or not to get a full sized laptop. Note that HP did not call their offering "netbook" because this fully functional Mini-PC offers what many netbook manufactures have been unable to achieve: a stable and fast Windows operating machine. Also unlike many of the competitor's offerings, it doesn't feel cheap- or scaled down. This could be because of the brushed aluminum case that the 2140 boasts, which among other things, protects the Mini during transport and keeps it finger smudge free.
Unlike other Mini's, there is the possibility for replacing a full mobile unit with this offering. Video card problems that maybe encountered on other units using Windows drivers are a thing of the past with the 2140. With 10.1-inch diagonal widescreen display in a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is similar to many newer TVs and wide screen broadcasts, you can choose between a standard resolution (1024 x 576) or a high-definition display (1366 x768). Downloading a DivX player will add some multimedia functionality for long trips. With the large storage capacity, either 160 GB, or 80 GB, running full office systems on the device is completely achievable.
Travel is one of the best applications for the device. Being literally the size of an average hardcover book, it fits in most carry-on bags, and has a long battery life. With a WiFi and Bluetooth connection, SD card reader, and two USB inputs with the base system- for work related activities on the road you don't need much more than that.
One of the best features for the 2140 is the touchpad off button. Often with the smaller keyboards, many people find that they are often jumping all over the page when accidently resting their hands on the touch pad. With this you can switch the touch pad off and on with a simple button press.
In all, it is a well designed, sleek, and hardy device. The HP Mini 2140 Notebook PC
is a recommended tool for the busy executive who is on the move.
